NDFC Inclusive Teacher Award

The NDFC Inclusive Teacher Award has been developed to equip teachers, classroom assistants and school staff with the knowledge, confidence and practical strategies to create more inclusive PE and physical activity experiences for neurodivergent children and those with additional needs.

The award combines current research with real-life experience gained through supporting over 1,000 children across schools and community programmes. Participants will explore how to remove barriers to participation, adapt activities, improve communication and create environments where every child feels valued and able to succeed.

Rather than focusing solely on sport, the award places inclusion, confidence, participation and belonging at the heart of physical education.

The Award Covers:

Understanding neurodiversity within PE

Creating inclusive learning environments

Adapting activities to meet individual needs

Supporting communication and emotional regulation

Building confidence through physical activity

Practical strategies that can be implemented immediately within school settings

The NDFC Inclusive Teacher Award is suitable for teachers, classroom assistants, SENCOs, Special Provision staff, trainee teachers and anyone passionate about ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate, belong and thrive through physical education.

Together, we can create PE lessons where every child experiences success.

What schools are saying about NDFC

Voices of the NDFC Community

Tommy delivered a series of sessions in our school during the last year. He is a highly professional and committed OMA coach, and he established strong and trusting relationships with each child. Our pupils thoroughly enjoyed the sessions which helped build their confidence, foster teamwork, develop communication skills and encourage social interaction - all whilst enjoying the physical benefits of exercise.

As a teacher of an autism class I was delighted to have Thomas from Neuro Diverse football club come in to teach football skills to the children. Thomas delivered extremely well-organised sessions, with each activity clearly planned and structured. The transitions between drills were smooth, ensuring there was no wasted time and that the children remained focused throughout. It was evident that a great deal of preparation had gone into each session.
